2009 In ReviewAs I reflect upon 2009, I can best describe the year as alternating highs and lows. Truly the
year of the roller coaster, and the proverbial "good, bad and ugly".
Starting
with the good there is Ch Petit Motif's Ms. Chief, a beautiful brindle girl who has achieved great heights in the dog show
world befoe her second birthday. After achieving her AKC championship, 'Missy', began her career as a "special"
competing in the championship class. 'Missy' won several breed competitions before attending the French Bull Dog Club
of America national specialty show in Boston in Octiber. The show which features about 400 French Bulldogs is an annual
event. This year 'Misssy' took the Best of Opposite Sex award. This is essentially second place in the show.
Since the winner was a male dog, the judge then picked her choice of the best feamle entered, and that was 'Missy',
Her owners, Rick and Vanna Ly and her breeders, myself, Judy King and Judi McKissick are very honored and proud of this win
from judge Patricia Sosa.
Next, four Petit Motif dogs earned their AKC championships. Congratulations to
'Missy', 'Garcon', 'Tara' and 'Diamond'. Finally, we had four lovely litters from 'Flash', 'Mocha' and 'Tara'.
Several of the older 'Flash' puppies are already making their appearances in the showring, and two are very close to earning
their championships.
Finally, I have met several wonderful new friends which I hope will continue as lifelong
relationships.
As to the bad, we are very, very sad over the loss of 'Mocha' and 'Freckles', two of our beautiful
Frenchie girls who have gone to the rainbow bridge much too prematurely. I miss them very much and think of them often.
Also, in 2009, I had the terrible experience or rescuing a puppy that I sold to what turned out to be an unsuitable
home. This is the 'ugly' situation, but hopefully important lessons were learned about screening and contracts.
So, if you are interested in a Petit Motif puppy, you can expect closer scrutiny before a puppy is placed with you,
Please understand, there is nothing personal involved, it is just for the welfare of the dog and the love of the breed.
I look forward to 2010 and watching 'Missy' as she makes her name in the French Bulldog world. Also, to the
new puppies who will begin and finsh their show careers. Finally, to old friends and new that I will meet along the
way.
To all Happy Holidays and a wonderful, healthy and happy New Year
Helene
